Hyundai drives Wednesday’s hype to make its SUV the star of the week:

Last week, Netflix dropped the first part of Wednesday Season 2.

So it’s no surprise we’re seeing the Addams family everywhere in advertising (from Cheetos to Booking.com).

Hyundai joined the fun with a new spot for their Hyundai Exter, featuring Wednesday Addams standing in front of the SUV while Thing perches on the hood.

The copy reads: Wednesday is a great day to drive a Hyundai (always love copy that rhymes šŸ˜).

This ad works because of its clever play.

It artfully ties one of the most talked-about shows of the week to the literal day of the week – while giving their new SUV a pop-culture edge.

This is how relevancy works in marketing: you borrow attention from something everyone’s already talking about and redirect it toward your product.

What could have made it even better?

If Hyundai had splurged to get Jenna Ortega herself in the shot, or she couldn’t make it (apparently, shooting a hit Netflix show is a full-time job šŸ’¼).

Because, let’s be honest, celebrity power still moves the marketing needle.

Hyundai featured a TV icon to grab attention.

M&R did the same for storage bins—only their monster comes with its own hardware needs.
